GAME OF THE WEEK on nta.fm and 100.5 fm
ROCKFORD AUBURN (2-3) at HARLEM (4-1)
Last Year: Harlem avoided and upset bid by the upstart Knights 36-28.
This Year: The Knights need a big win to get back to the playoffs. Theyre sitting on 3 losses and are in the danger zone. Harlem has been rolling thanks to the balanced attack of rushing by De Woods and passing by Tanner DiGiovanni. Auburn needs a big showing by Marc Trautmann and/or Christian Lopez.
BELVIDERE (2-3) at GUILFORD (4-1)
Last Year: Guilford pummeled the playoff bound Bucs 42-14.
This Year: And The roles are reversed from last year. Guilford is cruising and the Bucs are struggling. Belvidere still has a tough schedules ahead with the Titans on the horizon so they must step up and knock off Guilford. But thats easier said than done as the Vikings are enjoying a rennaissance year with great defensive performances as well as a balanced offense led by Nino Musso.
FREEPORT (1-4) at BELVIDERE NORTH (2-3)
Last Year: North squeaked by 14-12.
This Year: North finds themselves in a similar situation to their crosstown rivals. They have 3 losses but still have Boylan to go on their schedule so any shot of a playoff berth hinges on beating everyone else. Different offenses will be the story as it will be Jace Bankord passing for North against the rushing attack of Steve McShane and Freeport.
EAST (2-3) at BOYLAN (5-0)
Last Year: Boylan won 41-9
This Year: East comes in on a two game winning streak, but Boylan has won 70 straight in the conference. It will be a whole new ballgame for the E-Rabs as QB Demery Croft has been leading the Boylan offense and the defense has had its share of scoring as well.
HONONEGAH (3-2) at JEFFERSON (0-5)
Last Year: The Indians blasted Jefferson 55-13
*This Year:*Alex Martin ran wild for Hononegah last week and the Indians got back in the win column, a place Jefferson still wants to find. The Indians cant afford to slip up as they still have a game against the rival Huskies and need every win they can get to assure their playoff position.
LUTHERAN (4-1) at MENDOTA (2-3)
Last Year: The Crusaders ran all over Mendota 56-13
This Year: With a slate of rivalry games on tap for Lutheran including Byron, a big game against Stillman, and at Rockford Christian. Lutheran can't take this trip to Mendota for granted. Milestones on the horizon as sophomore James Robinson should pass 1,000 yards on the season and 3,000 on his career tonight.
