GAME OF THE WEEK (on nta.fm and 100.5 fm)
BYRON at LUTHERAN (5-1)
Last Year: Byron handed the Crusaders their only regular season loss. Lutheran then went on to tie the Tigers for the conference title by way of beating Stillman, who then beat Byron.
This Year: Byron dominated this rivalry for years (across football and hoops) but now the Crusaders have a chance of putting the Tigers "to bed". They need to win this as well as next weeks showdown with Stillman ,and hope Stillman can turn around then beat Bago in Week 9 ,to go back to back in the Big Northern. In the rough and tumble competitive conference it's possible. James Robinson will continue his run over 1,000 season yards and 3,000 career yards on the Crusader's senior night (although only a sophomore himself). The Crusaders finish with two road games at Stillman and Rock. Christian.
BOYLAN (7-0) over JEFFERSON (0-7) by forfeit.
HONONEGAH (4-2) at HARLEM (5-1)
Last Year: Hononegah won but would later forfeit the game due to use of ineligible player.
This Year: Hononegah is rolling after a rough start to a year in which they wanted a NIC-10 title. The week 2 loss to North put them in a tough position. The Indians must have good showings against Harlem and/or Guilford to get to 6 wins and get into the playoffs automatically or hope the football gods let them in at 5-4. They do have the weapons as their rushing attack is on fire. The Huskies must protect their home field after squeaking by Auburn last week.
BELVIDERE NORTH (3-3) at EAST (2-4)
Last Year: North snuck by East 23-21
This Year: North has their destiny in their hands. Win two out of three of their last games and they could sneak into the playoffs. The E-Rabs are not mathematically eliminated so they could try and shock the high octane passing game of North and try to get in themselves. A must win for both teams if the postseason has chance of happening.Easts rushing game and North and Jace Bankord's arm will fight for the chance to stay alive in a shot at postseason play.
FREEPORT (1-5) at BELVIDERE (2-4)
Last Year: The Bucs were almost shocked but prevailed 27-26.
This Year: After a disappointing start to the season the Bucs look to take out their frustrations on Freeport. The Pretzel have been in a few close games so anything is possible, but Maurice Jackson and crew want to go out on a high note in a fight between two good rushing attacks.
GUILFORD (5-1) at AUBURN (2-4)
Last Year: The Knights magical run to the postseason was helped by a 16-14 win.
This Year: Auburn is in a must win every week. Guilford could use wins. They face quite a late season gauntlet with Auburn, Harlem, and Hononegah. Momentum is key going into the postseason so they must get wins when they can.
CHRISTIAN LIBERTY at CHRISTIAN LIFE
OREGON at WINNEBAGO
