The Belvidere School Board approves plans to close Kishwaukee Elementary School after the current academic year ends this Spring. One School Board member said it's not fiscally sound to continue to operate schools that are not being fully utilized. Board members also voted to eliminate two Assistant Principal positions and to close Endeavor High School which is an alternative school. District field trips will be eliminated unless the money is raised or provided by the state through grants. The moves are expected to save the cash-strapped Belvidere School District about $2.4 million dollars.
