Rockford Area Realtors say home sales in November were up nearly 16% from the same time last year.
Figures from the Realtors Association show 325 properties were sold in Winnebago and Boone counties, up from the 281 homes sold in November of 2011.
It's the 5th straight month of year over year increases with ten of eleven months showing increases compared to last year.
Rockford Realtors CEO Steve Bois says the housing market is gaining strength.
The three month average sales price fell two-and-half percent to just over $99,000. Bois says while the housing market is finally recovering, don't expect big price gains. However, he says the combination of lower inventory and rising demand will eventually push up prices.
