Officials at the Chicago/Rockford Airport announce a Winter getaway destination. Beginning February 14th, Allegiant Travel will fly two round trips per week between Rockford and Punta Gorda, Florida...just north of Fort Myers. Rockford Airport Director Mike Dunn says the Fort Myers area has historically been one of RFD's strongest destinations. Allegiant will fly between Rockford and Punta Gorda on Thursdays and Sundays. The addition brings the number of destinations that RFD serves to 9.
