The Department of Defense announces the death of a Rockford soldier in Afghanistan.  Sgt. Michael E. Ristau, 25, of Rockford,Illinois died July 13th in Qalat,Zabul Province, Afghanistan of wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked with an enemy improvised explosive device. The Department of Defense says Sgt. Ristau was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
